Director, Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program
and Associate or Full Professor/Specialist in Cooperative Extension

The University of California, Davis seeks a recognized leader to serve as Director of the University of California Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM). Responsibilities of this position include (1) providing leadership and direction for development and implementation of UC IPM program policies and procedures; (2) overseeing organizational units, including competitive grants, communication systems, and IPM advisors; keeping abreast of progress and issues to ensure goals are met and efforts are coordinated; (3) identifying and advocating for appropriate funding for IPM priority programs, and developing annual IPM budget; (4) leading the IPM competitive grant program, coordinating reporting to ANR and other funding agencies, and promoting program results; (5) providing programmatic direction for IPM advisors and IPM extension specialists, including maintaining MOU’s with ANR regional CE directors and deans to formalize management responsibilities; (6) communicating UC IPM activities and accomplishments within ANR and to external constituents, including licensed pest managers, growers, local, state and federal agencies, and the public; (7) developing a teaching, research and extension program in a discipline-based academic home department.

The Director will report to the Office of the Associate Vice President of the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The candidate will be expected to participate in undergraduate and/or graduate instruction. For more information on the mission of the program, see www.ipm.ucdavis.edu.

Qualifications: Candidates must have: a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline; a strong record of leading and managing staff and resources for a complex organization; a broad knowledge of crop and pest management principles and an outstanding record of achievement and leadership in IPM research; excellent communication skills (oral and written), and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively, and the ability to facilitate multidisciplinary research among faculty, local, state and federal agencies and public groups; demonstrated ability to develop an innovative teaching and research program consistent with a 25% Instruction and Research and 75% CE appointment. Demonstrated skill in obtaining extramural funding to support research is also expected.
