POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE IN PLANT COMMUNITY ECOLOGY

A postdoc is sought for a study of geographic patterns of plant diversity with respect to climatic and edaphic gradients in collaboration with Susan Harrison (UC-Davis) and Ellen Damschen (Washington University). The primary responsibility of the postdoc will be to conduct spatially-structured sampling of plant communities around California. Applicants need to have good to excellent plant identification skills, a car, and the willingness to conduct physically demanding fieldwork (often alone) in widely scattered locations across the state. Abilities in GPS, GIS, database management, and spatial and community statistics are also desirable. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to pursue his/her own research ideas through independent fieldwork and/or the use of existing databases. The position will begin as soon as a qualified candidate is found and is available for 1-2 years.
